Spring is Approaching!

..and with it comes...

Yes, the all new GT35 performance cruiser. But you already know this. However I thought I'd share the latest news which is that the deck was pulled from the mould this week.

A new year, a new start and a new boat. It's all getting very exciting at GT Yachts and Windboats Marine. The previous years of research, planning and preparation are coming to fruition as GT35-01 takes final shape. On Wednesday 29th January 2014 the deck was de-moulded without issue. The fact that there were no issues is largely due to the skill and expertise of the staff at Windboats-Hardy where the hull and deck have been moulded. Attention to the detail at every stage when laying up the composite structure has meant the deck has been moulded to the very highest standards. Of course the sleek lines of Stephen Jones' designed deck and coachroof also add to the smooth de-moulding process!

Now that the deck is out, the last turn has been rounded and we're heading into the final straight for the completion of GT35-01. I'm pleased to say that today has seen the dry fitting of the deck onto the hull and the two were mated perfectly. The rudder stock length was confirmed and the deck removed once again. The hull and deck fit-out can now be completed and mated permanently in a week's time. The Selden rig is currently in the finishing stages and so everything looks set for an exciting commissioning and testing period in late February.

We are seeing very keen press interest in this yacht, not surprising given that a performance cruising yacht from Stephen Jones has not been on the market for some time. Of course, most importantly, once the yacht has been fully commissioned we can hand it over to her new owner! I'm definitely looking forward to that day!

Exciting enough with the deck joining the hull in the fit-out shed, it would be remiss of me not to include something more on the very high specification of this yacht.
While many manufacturers of cruising yachts may not even supply you with a stem head fitting and anchoring arrangements as standard, a fully integrated and engineered solution is included on the GT35. The stem head fitting is designed in to the bulwark to ensure that it mates well with the hull structure allowing anchoring loads to be transferred safely. If you're a serious cruising yachtsman or woman, you know that anchoring is an extremely important aspect. You're equipment shouldn't give you cause for concern when you need it most.

All the best,
Conrad.
